Note: Subclass 103 has long processing times, sometimes over 30 years, due to the high demand.

Contributory Parent Visa (Offshore) Subclass 143

The Contributory Parent Visa Subclass 143 is a permanent visa that allows parents to live in Australia. It has a higher application cost than the Subclass 103 visa but offers a faster processing time.

Eligibility Criteria for Subclass 143:

• Sponsorship: You must be sponsored by your child who is an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen.
• Balance of Family Test: At least half of your children must reside in Australia, or more of your children must live in Australia than in any other country.
• Assurance of Support: Your sponsor must provide an Assurance of Support.

Contributory Parent (Temporary) Visa Subclass 173

The Contributory Parent (Temporary) Visa Subclass 173 allows parents to live in Australia for up to 2 years and is a pathway to the permanent Subclass 143 visa. It is a good option if you cannot afford the full payment for the 143 visa upfront.

Eligibility Criteria for Subclass 173:

• Sponsorship: You must be sponsored by your child who is an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen.
• Balance of Family Test: At least half of your children must live in Australia, or more children must live in Australia than in any other country.
• Health and Character Requirements: You must meet the health and character requirements.

Aged Parent Visa (Onshore) Subclass 804

The Aged Parent Visa Subclass 804 is for older parents who want to live permanently in Australia. It allows applicants to remain in Australia on a bridging visa while their permanent visa application is processed.

• Age Requirement: You must be of pensionable age according to Australian law.

Eligibility Criteria for Subclass 864:

Temporary Sponsored Parent Visa Subclass 870

The Temporary Sponsored Parent Visa Subclass 870 allows parents to live in Australia temporarily for up to 3 or 5 years without the need to meet the Balance of Family Test.

Eligibility Criteria for Subclass 870:

• Sponsorship: Your Australian child must sponsor you and must have an approved sponsorship arrangement in place.
• No Balance of Family Test: You are not required to meet the Balance of Family Test.
• Health and Character Requirements: You must meet health and character requirements.
• Visa Duration: You can apply for a 3 or 5-year stay, with the option to renew for up to 10 years total.
